As a youth-serving organization, the Hart Baseball & Softball League considers the safety and well-being of the youth in our program a top priority. Therefore, we continue to require a background checking program to include all team personnel over the age of 18 that come into contact with players. All volunteers will be required to get a Electronic Fingerprint Submission performed using the California Department of Justice Live Scan system. When Livescan clears the status of a volunteer, the League will issue an ID card that volunteers will be required to wear on the field at the Hart complex during games and/or practices. All managers, coaches, team moms, and volunteers will be required to be Livescanned.
Directors on Duty and Umpires will be checking for ID cards at the beginning of every game. If you have previously cleared Live Scan you should have been issued an ID Card. Once you have cleared Live Scan there is no need to clear it again for the following seasons. You will only be issued a new card on request if your original card has been lost or damaged.
A background check will need to be performed on every Team Representative, Manager, Coach, Assistants, and volunteers. Your failure to participate will make you unavailable to coach and interact with Hart players. If, on game day, no team personnel have had a background check performed, the game will be forfeited.
In addition, a Hart Baseball & Softball League issued badge must be visible at all times and should be worn on the shirt or on a lanyard around the neck. Anyone without a visible badge will be asked to leave the field. How do you get a Hart Baseball & Softball League issued badge?1. You must be Live ScreeningTM Scanned with Hart Baseball.
