• What are the Skills Contests and how do they work?

HR Derby

Each participant will be given 10 balls to attempt to hit over temporary fences intentionally moved forward to allow players more advantage in hitting homeruns. All division will hit from a tee. Tiebreakers will have an additional 5 attempts. Rules subject to change depending on number of participants. 

Fastest Around the Bases

Each participant will be given 2 chances to run the bases from home plate, all the way around the bases, ending again at home. The fastest time will be the time recorded. Missing a base will result in that attempt being disqualified. Tiebreakers will receive one additional attempt. Rules subject to change depending on number of participants. 

Pitching/Throwing for Accuracy

Participants will throw from a distance appropriate for their division (Shetland will use Pinto distance, Filly will use Mini Minor distance). Baseball will pitch from a mound. Softball will be given the option to throw overhand, or pitch underhand from the pitching mound distance in their division. 5 pitches/throws each. Strikes zones have two designated markings. The strike zone is appropriately sized for a traditional strike zone and will be worth 150 points for each pitch successfully hitting that zone. The second marking around that zone will be worth 50 points. Tiebreakers will have an additional 3 attempts. Rules subject to change depending on number of participants. 

• What are the individual prizes for the skills competitions?

1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies will be awarded in each of the 3 skills, for all 11 divisions. That’s 99 Trophies!

In addition, players who compete in all three contests will earn points and the one player each in  baseball and softball with the highest total points will be awarded our grand prize.  The Grand Prize package includes special trophies, and a $500 sporting goods Gift Card, courtesy of National Leak Specialists.

Lastly, we are excited to announce every player who competes in any skill will receive a limited edition Homerun Derby Baseball with our custom 70th anniversary Hart logo stamped on the ball! Limit one ball per player. 

• What payment forms do you accept?

Cash & check are best. Checks can be made payable to Hart Baseball & Softball.  We will also be accepting PayPal and Cash App on the collection day, Sunday January 14. Unfortunately, we cannot accept Venmo and Zelle as they do not support non-profit payments.

Help support Hart complete a major project with a fundraiser where 100% of the proceeds go towards new batting cages and new storage building.

How does the fundraiser work?

Each player will have an October calendar where they sell squares at a cost based on the day of the month, i.e. Oct 10th will be sponsored for $10.  

Each player collects as many dates as possible. The more dates you sell, the more opportunity you’ll have to compete for trophies and prizes at
Hart’s 70th Anniversary Opening Day Celebration February 3, 2024!

Earn $50-199, participate in 1 skills competition of your choosing
Earn $200-399, participate in a 2nd skills competition of your choosing
Earn $400-495, participate in all 3 skills competitions!
Earn the max $496, participate in all 3 skills competitions and receive a custom Hart hoodie!

Skills competitions include Homerun Derby, Fastest Around the Bases, and Throwing For Accuracy

Prizes will be awarded to each division for all skills. In addition, one lucky participant in both baseball and softball could earn The Grand Prize for highest ranked in all 3 competitions!

The prize pack for each of the 5 top earning teams will receiving all of the following items:

1- $100 gift card for a team party at MB2 in SCV, including a free go cart ride for each of the players on the team!

2- Coupons for each player for a free sub at our local Firehouse Subs on Valencia Blvd. (12 players means 24 free subs!)

1- Free icee for each player provided by our canteen, Rose City!

1- Diamond T-shirt for each player and 3 coaches/team parent, compliments of Diamond

1- Pair of wristbands per player, compliments of Diamond 

For Coach:

1- Ball bucket with 2 dozen baseballs or softballs 

1- Ball bucket sleeve, compliments of Diamond 

1- Wagon, for all your gear 

Team prize winners will be calculated based on the amount of players on the team. (Total team fundraised amount divided by number of players.)
